The Kenyan development side that will play Botswana in a friendly match at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi on Thursday has invited four new players on board.
The players are Sofapaka duo Thomas Wanyama and Abdalla Juma as well as Thika United’s Lucas Indeche and Charles Odete.
They come into the side after the withdrawal of AFC Leopards’ players from the side, with Ingwe taking on Nairobi City Stars in a Kenyan Premier League match a day after the Botswana friendly.
Confirming the changes, head coach James Nandwa says the new players will provide him with a good base to work with for the friendly.
“We have some new players in the side. Wanyama, Odete, Juma and Indeche will join the side immediately. They replace the AFC Leopards players who sadly could not make it to the side.I am happy with their soon to be arrival and am sure that they will add value to the playing unit as we prepare for the match.”
The Leopards players who miss out are Bernard Mangoli, Patrick Matasi, Martin Imbalambala, Victor Ochieng and Edwin Wafula.
Nandwa says that despite the blow, they will not fall short in the match. “It is a blow because they are a good bunch of players.
They have been playing week in week out for a side that is close to the top of the Kenyan Premier League,” he added.
“They will be missed, but we have to give others a chance. The guys who are now in the squad will do well, they have the pedigree
