Para quem é fã de MMA sabe como é a estrada do Anderson Silva e também do Jon Jones, e já viram como os caras gostam também de humilhar os oponentes e vencer de forma bem fácil, mas parece que não é só eles que podem fazer isso, uma grande revelação está por vir.

E o seu nome é Michael Page, a revelação britânica do Kickboxing, que fez a sua primeira luta na carreira de MMA e realmente a sua luta foi brilhante, mostrando uma grande superioridade sobre o adversário e o vencendo de uma forma bem humilhante.

Quem gosta de um bom MMA e acompanha o UFC sabe muito bem quem é o Jon Jones, e o sucesso na carreira do cara é grande e só vem mantendo o título de campeão, mas parece que o campeão está cansado de bater no meio-pesados (até 93kg) , a sua atual categoria.

Em uma entrevista para o programa "The MMA Hour", o campeão revelou que teria pedido para os chefões do UFC para lutar na categoria dos pesos-pesados (até 120kg).

“Eu falei com o Dana (White, presidente do UFC) e com o Lorenzo (Fertitta, um dos donos da organização) sobre fazer uma luta para os fãs no final de 2012. Imaginei que, vencendo Henderson e Rashad, haverá um período em que eu vou descobrir quem será meu próximo adversário. E durante esse período, que será no final de 2012, eu pedi para enfrentar um peso pesado, um peso pesado top 10. Só para os fãs. Dana e Lorenzo não acharam que seria o melhor para mim agora. Eles querem que eu continue na divisão dos meio-pesados”

Parece que o Jon Jones anda bastante confiante na sua técnica e basicamente está afirmando que manterá o se cinturão este ano, e que pretende alcançar sempre um desafio maior e com certeza iria ser bem maneiro assistir a luta dele contra um peso-pesado do top 10.

E se referindo ao seu possível próximo desafiante, Rashad Evans, que poderá lutar contra ele no dia 21 de abril nos Estados Unidos, ele disse que não viu grandes evoluções do seu desafiante na sua última luta.

“Na verdade, não. Eu realmente não vejo muito progresso. Ele deixou a equipe. Acho que Mike Winklejohn e Greg Jackson eram bons para ele, e ele (Rashad) aprendeu o estilo deles. Com o seu novo programa (de treinos), eu realmente não tenho visto progresso. Phil (Davis) parecia uma ovelha e não mostrou muito lá dentro”

O esporte está crescendo a cada vez mais, aqui no Brasil principalmente, se tirarmos o futebol que é o esporte do Brasil, o MMA vem logo em seguida e ganhando espaço a cada dia que passa. Sendo que em 2011, o UFC foi uma das coisas mais citadas nas redes sociais no Brasil e em todo o mundo.

Chael Sonnen recebe camisa do Palmeiras e promete títuto do UFC para torcida

Algum tempo atrás o Palmeiras presentou o lutador Chael Sonnen com a camisa Alviverde junto com um kit, e agora ele posou com a camisa e está bem confiante que tirará o cinturão do Anderson Silva.

Acho que muitos devem saber da rixa entre ele e o lutador Anderson Silva, eu acho a galera daqui um pouco ignorante as vezes, beleza quiser torcer para o cara tudo bem, mas deve haver muitos ai que estão torcendo por ele por ele declarar que é 'Palmeirense'.


O cara já insultou os lutadores brasileiros e também o nosso próprio país, e tem muitos ai apoiando e idolatrando o cara, ao meu ver isso não tem nada a ver com futebol e títulos ou times, MMA é um esporte totalmente diferente e eu torço para o brasileiro Anderson Silva.


- Palmeiras, aqui é o Chael Sonnen dos Estados Unidos. Queria parabenizar vocês pela temporada. Sou um fã de todas as horas, não apenas quando vocês ganham. Foi um bom campeonato e um bom jogo (contra o Corinthians). Estou muito orgulhoso de vocês. Eu sei que o time não levou o título nacional, mas eu vou conseguir o título mundial e colocar o Palmeiras onde merece - disse o lutador.


Mesmo se eu fosse Palmeirense eu iria torcer para o Anderson Silva, o cara é muito falastrão e já falou poucas e boas sobre brasileiros e do Brasil, e estou bastante ansioso pela luta e espero mesmo que o Spider acabe com ele na luta.

Acho que muitos aqui devem conhecer a rivalidade entre o Palmeiras e o Corinthians, e parece que a rivalidade vai sair dos campos e ir para o octógono.

Sabendo da grande rivalidade do então corinthiano Anderson Silva e o Chael Sonnen, que já disse torcer para os Palmeirenses, eles enviaram um kit com uma camisa e um DVD para o lutador norte-americano.

Eu acho que isso de futebol e MMA não tem nada a ver uma com a outra, mas para mim o Palmeiras conseguiu ficar pior do que já está, querer paparicar um lutador que fala pra caramba e fica provocando os brasileiros é lamentável.

Mas em breve poderemos assistir a tão esperada luta entre os dois lutadores, eu não sou corinthiano mas eu vou torcer pelo brasileiro Spider acabar com esse palmeirense.

Chael Sonnen é provocado em entrevista e abandona programa de TV

Mas olha só, para que o falastrão ai gosta bastante de provocar os brasileiros, mas quando a história volta contra ele e ele que é zoado não aguenta a pressão. Em um talk show comandando por Michael Landsberg, na rede TSN, o lutador se revoltou com as perguntas e deixou o programa.

No começo da entrevista o entrevistador, já perguntou de uma proposta que o Sonnen fez ao Anderson Silva, dizendo que se ele perdesse para o brasileiro ele desistira da carreira do MMA.


“Eu não tenho certeza que você sabe com quem está falando, mas eu nunca desisto de nada. Se eu te disser que vou vender meu carro por US$ 10.000, você acha que eu só posso chamá-lo de volta daqui a um ano e dizer: ‘Eu quero US$ 10.000 pelo carro’? Não é assim que as coisas funcionam. É assim que você faz negócios no Canadá? Porque no meu país, que criou os negócios, ofertas se expiraram. Fiz-lhe uma oferta, aparentemente ele não aceitou. Não é que eu recuei, mas aparentemente eu preciso presenteá-lo com uma nova oferta. Vocês provavelmente não fazem isso no socialismo, mas na América, em uma sociedade capitalista, é assim que as coisas funcionam”, afirmou Sonnen.


Mas até ai tudo bem na entrevista, mas a irritação do lutador americano veio depois, quando foi questionado sobre o que ele achava sobre o lutador Georges St-Pierre, que é o atual campeão dos meio-médios, veja a baixo como foi o diálogo e o momento que o Sonnen literalmente perdeu a linha:


Landsberg: Mas você disse que gostava dele (Georges St-Pierre) como lutador...


Sonnen: É verdade, você está certo.


Landsberg: Mas afinal, você gosta do estilo dele ou não?

Sonnen: Eu faria o meu melhor.


Landsberg: Eu achava que você dava o seu melhor todas as vezes que entra no octógono, então isso não diz muita coisa para mim.

O famoso campeão do MMA poderá participar do elenco da novela Fina Estampa.

Mas vamos concordar né, em que programa o Anderson Silva não apareceu?!!

Está certo que depois do UFC Rio a moral do cara está ainda maior, mas em todo programa que eu colocava o cara tava participando como convidado, e participar de novela já não me surpreende muito, daqui a poco ele ta na malhação também, um colírio da Capricho, haha ta bom não vamos exagerar!

A confirmação da notícia é do Jornal de S. Paulo, e que sua participação na novela está sendo negociada, e evidentemente o cara vai fazer papel de lutador mesmo, e também será lutador o ator Dudu Azevedo.

Brasileira se empolgou durante entrevista e finalizou Aaron Tru com uma mata leão.

Falando em MMA feminino, a brasileira Cristiane 'Cyborg' Santos se destaca. Ela com 25 anos, é a campeã dos pesos-médio do Strikeforce e vamos dizer que fez por merecer, ela em sua estréia obtém 10 vitórias e apenas 1 derrota.


E dessas 10 vitórias, 8 foram de nocaute, número que deixaria até alguns marmanjos com inveja, e de deixar marmanjos com medo de topar com ela na rua haha, e o repórter Aaron Tru que o diga.


No final da reportagem com a lutadora, o repórter fez uma pergunta infeliz perguntando em quanto tempo a lutadora levaria para fazer uma adversária desmaiar, e ele teve uma resposta bem clara:

Ator e policial norte-americano ensinou brasileiros Anderson Silva e Lyoto Machida.

Aquele famoso chute do Steven Seagal parece ter virado moda no MMA, dois brasileiros já usaram este chute para nocautear seus adversários, eles sendo Anderson Silva e Lyoto Machida.

Em ambos casos eles mencionaram o seu 'professor' e agradeceram os seus ensinamentos, em entrevista, Steaven Seagal, diz que a técnica que ensina aos seus alunos é diferente do modo em que se deveria mesmo aplicar o golpe.

- A coisa que mais engana nesse chute é que na técnica normal, você levante o joelho e chuta o oponente, mas nessa que eu estou tentando ensiná-los, o pé é que vai primeiro.
Steven que é famoso em seus filmes de ação, ele também é policial, e como mostra nos seus filmes na vida real o ator e policial também tem uma grande habilidade em lutas.

E ainda fala que várias novas técnicas para ensinar, os brasileiros no UFC estão ótimos com um treinador desses em?!

UFC Events Coming to New York

With the economy in the dumps and states all over America feeling the pressure of the budget slashes city's such as New York are looking for new revenue streams. This opportunity is perfect for the UFC to make a case and I believe that the UFC will be coming to Madison Square Garden’s very soon!

Recently the UFC held a press conference about the issue and Dean Murray, a N.Y. State Assemblyman, was one of several high ranking officials to attend.
"The fact of the matter is, this another example of New York being a nanny state. We have to stop doing that. We have to give the choice," Murray said "How many TV stations do you have? How many radio stations do you have? You have choices. By us not legalizing this, it's removing that option of all these, literally millions of fans in New York state, having a chance to see their hometown heroes fighting."

Dana White announced that once MMA is regulated, the UFC will bring two or three UFC events to Madison Square Garden per year. According to studies from HR&A, those two shows would bring $23 million and more than 200 jobs to N.Y.

"The financial study [that HR&A did] is incredibly conservative. In that study we priced tickets cheaper than New Jersey, and we bring a lot of money into that state. We also conservatively projected only two events -- one big PPV at Madison Square Garden, and one upstate, which would be a fight night or a finale or something like that. White said "But who knows -- maybe we come into New York and we do three events, and you triple whatever that number is. It's absolutely insane and asinine for this not to be sanctioned."

White also when on to talk about other lower mma organizations that will also generate jobs and money in the state.
"When we're talking about the UFC coming to the state of New York, a lot of other mixed martial arts events will too. Which will create even more revenue. You're going to have all these other organizations that will come here and bring more money in and create more jobs," said White.

An additional $7 million would come from 70 more MMA events each year in N.Y. Springer based that estimate on the number of fight cards in states like New Jersey, California and Pennsylvania.

UFC 127: Penn vs. Fitch

UFC 127 will be the second event since UFC 110 to be held on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. There will be a sellout crowd in attendance, tickets went on sale in December selling on within hours. This event along with UFC 110 goes down in record for the fastest selling event in UFC history.

Recently Anderson Silva was interviewed by ESPN UK  about his upcoming Middleweight Championship fight Vs Vitor "The Phenom" Belfort at UFC 126 in Las Vegas this February. Silva is certainly not looking past Vitor but he started to speculate on his future. Silva has a desire to return to England to defend his belt against "The Ultimate Fighter 3" winner Michael Bisping. Many MMA fans will knows that Silva fought in the British MMA circuit where he became the Cage Rage Middleweight champion defeating "Lightning" Lee Murry.
"The British fans are very knowledgeable and passionate about MMA. I would love to fight there once more" said the Middleweight champ.
Silva last fought in England back in April 2006 where he knocked out Tony Fryklund with the famous uppercut elbow.
 "I am the champion of the world, not just Brazil or America. Being a world champion means taking on the best fighters from around the world all over the world." said the Pound for Pound champ. "If the chance came I would like to fight Bisping in the UK if that's what the UFC put together."


Bispings next fight is in Sidney at UFC 127 where he will face off against Jorge Rivera. Bisping has been on good form recently winning 6 of his 8 last fights dropping a decision to Wanderlie Silva and the famous knockout to Dan Handerson, so he is clearly in the title picture. The Ultimate Fighter winner has recently responded to the comments made by the Blackhouse member saying "It's nice to hear nice things from the best in the world, and hopefully soon I will earn the honour of fighting him" 


I am really hoping that all things align and this fight takes place because I would like to see Anderson Silva fight live before he retires and this is the best possible chance I have. Anderson is by far my favourite fighter ever and is the fighter that got me hooked in MMA.
I see 3 things stopping this fight from taking place.

1) Anderson needs to beat Vitor
2) Bisping needs to beat Rivera
3) Dana White needs to want to make it happen and forget about Okami as No.1 Contender.

UFC Is Safer Than Football And Boxing: Dana White

UFC President, Dana White talks about why he’s not overjoyed at his son wanting to pursue a career in football, explaining he considers mixed martial arts to be safer than that and boxing. “The misconception is, these guys can kick, knee, punch, elbow, slam to the ground, this has to be more violent and dangerous. It's not true,” says UFC President Dana White of the sport of mixed martial arts.

"What's more violent than boxing? You and I stand in front of each other for 12 rounds, and my goal is to hit you so hard in the face that I knock you unconscious. In the UFC you and I can fight, and I can beat you and win, and never punch you in the head once. We can go right to the ground, start grappling, and pull off a submission. It's not 25, 30 minutes of blows to the head non-stop.” UFC President Dana White said.

As well, he adds, “the difference with the tap out is that if I get you into a submission and you're in a bad place - you can tap out with honour. It's acceptable in this sport.”

White further points out that there’s never been a UFC injury more serious than a broken arm. However, he says, "At the end of the day it's a contact sport and anything can happen."

On the new HBO deal, Dana White says he believes UFC events are going to be a great addition to HBO’s lineup. HBO has said they won’t include people from their current boxing coverage team on the UFC productions, which seems to please White.

“I love the sport of boxing, let me tell you. That’s where I came from, and I used to live, eat, breathe, sleep boxing. Unfortunately, all the guys who were involved in boxing, all had a hand in helping kill that great sport. And the thing that scares me is, all the sleazy, slithering, creepy guys from boxing all are starting to work their way over to MMA now. And hopefully, the UFC can position themselves right now to keep all the creeps out of the sport.”

I absolutely agree with Dana White’s assertions… I actually wrote a research paper that compared injury rates of different sports. In a nutshell, football players tend to suffer from chronic debilitating injuries over the course of their career. 
 

If you compare rugby to NFL, you find much less chronic injuries because ruggers don’t wear pads. In boxing, boxers are at an extremely high risk for brain trauma (and disease), since their sport basically consists of being hit in the face repeatedly. A K.O is actually a mild form of concussion to the brain. Studies have shown that many boxers have portions of their brains that are literally “mush” from being repeatedly traumatized.

Boxing is much worse because of the accumulation of damage from being punched in the head thousands of times in a career is just not safe. Look at James Toney, I remember when he was young and in his prime he can barely talk now. Thats the guys who didn’t get beat to death like Jimmy Garcia who died after taking a beating from one of the Ruelas brothers or beat till his higher brain functions cease like Gerald McClellan.

UFC on the other hand gives the fighter the option to tap out (stopping the trauma), grapple instead of strike, and is restricted to 3-5 rounds. I would absolutely submit that UFCF fighters suffer much less trauma over the course of their career as compared to NFL football players or boxers.

Over 90% of the injuries sustained by fighters happen in training. Boxing is straight brutal. Everyone thinks its the big knockout that hurts you. I looks far worse then it is. The KO is a result of the bodies own defense system. Its those fighters that have so-called good chins that sustain brutal damage to their brains. Facts dont lie. NFL football is indeed more dangerous sport then UFC as a whole.

Although none of this actually means UFC is a safe sport. It is just safer then the two sports mentioned. I don't think it is anything one should rejoice over. Its still dangerous and anything can happen. 
 

Dana White may not have articulated it well but he’s right. A ten year NFL football players no matter how good he was or how healthy he is will have his life dramatically changed by the sport of football. Its just not physically possible for men that size, to move that fast and have multiple collisions. I’m not only talking concussions, I’m talking knee injuries , ankles etc. Look at Curtis Martin, he’s a guy who's in his 30’s and should still be in the prime of his life and can barely walk. Earl Campbell, etc.

The Ultimate Female UFC Fighters Entering The Octagon

Years ago, when the UFC was trying to get sanctioned across the country, Dana White decided that having women fight on his show would just create PR nightmares that he didn't need. He may have been right. It's easy to imagine legislators showing pictures of bloody girls in order to fight regulation efforts. Now that the sport is regulated in almost every state, that concern is gone for the most part, but it made no sense until this week for the UFC to even consider a women's division.

In a world where women's UFC is a constant uphill battle, both of these women had the opportunity to prove the professionalism of women in martial arts - and show that we belong in the ring. But now, thanks to this weekend's Elite Extreme Combat (EliteXC) event in Southaven, Miss. (which will be broadcast on Showtime), the debate about women in UFC/MMA has once again heated up. Carano, after all, will meet Julie Kedzie on the televised portion of the card tomorrow and bring women's UFC to a national audience.

Over the course of two major CBS shows, Gina Carano established herself as an elite-level draw. Her fights drew over a million new viewers each show, and she does incredible search numbers online. Nobody in the UFC has drawn those kind of TV ratings all year besides Anderson Silva in July. People are very interested in her. Even better, she actually has exciting fights and has the talent to carry the pressure put on her. With sagging TV ratings for live specials, featuring the women's division on Ultimate Fight Nights could be a boost.

While UFC gains momentum on the heels of UFC's rise in popularity, there are still a lot of people resistant to the idea of women's MMA. The reactions have been mixed at some of Carano's fights.

"Half of the people are fascinated, and then half the people are just kind of judgmental about it, most of those being guys in the sport," Gina Carano said...

Training with men is not a problem for Gina Carano. The problem, she said, is proving to some of those men that she belongs there.

"At first they look at you kind of crooked, like 'What are you doing in here?' They almost want to be like 'Do you really want to do this? Let's see if you really want to do this.' So you have to go through the pressure of being the new person, also female. Once they see that you're serious and you've actually got some skill, then those people's opinions change. It's really a beautiful thing, because they see it more as a sport, and not just a female trying to fight."

In Gina Carano's opinion, the idea that women are the "weaker sex" has given some men the false impression that women are in more danger than men are when they step into a cage or ring for a fight.

"Guys are just real protective over females for some reason," she said. "At least some of the guys I know. Here's what I think: I don't think they can handle the pressure of not being able to save the female. She's got to fight her own battle, you know?"

Another renowned UFC female fighter Tara LaRosa's skills have certainly been opening eyes. She won't disclose her exact purses, but says she'll make between $15,000-$25,000 per fight, and aims to fight four times a year. No, it's not Chuck Liddell money, but it's full-time pay, and that's definite progress, for males and females alike.

"I represent the common folk, I'm a common chick, not a stellar athlete, who shows that anybody can do it. I want people to watch me and say, 'Wow, that girl is good,' as opposed to, 'Wow, that girl is hot but her ground game stinks.' On the looks thing, unfortunately, that's the way society can be. I'm not the quintessential hot chick, but I bring a skill set. I'm not going to get implants to impress people." Tara Larosa said.

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Seized

For UFC fans, his name was remarkable to all UFC fights, a worthwhile fighter and a great defender. However, an issue blown up to ruin his title – Tito Ortiz is among the most decorated and popular fighters in UFC/MMA history. He was the UFC's light heavyweight champion from 2000 to 2003 during the formative years of the sport's dominant promotion, making five title defenses before losing his belt to Randy Couture.

Ortiz, whose nickname is the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy”, is a former collegiate wrestler has been competing in MMA since 1997. He has been in a relationship with a porn star and entrepreneur Jenna Jameson since 2006, and she gave birth to twin boys in March 2009. After his career declined amid several injury problems, including major back surgery, Tito Ortiz left the UFC in 2008 in a bitter dispute with UFC President Dana White, his former manager. 

 

UFC and MMA fighter Tito Ortiz was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence Monday at the home he shares with Jenna Jameson. According to Police Lt. Mike Reynolds said Ortiz, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, was taken to the Huntington Beach jail and was released after posting $25,000 bail.

Reynolds said police can't make an arrest on suspicion of domestic violence unless there's a "visible injury," and the unnamed victim's injuries met that standard. Reynolds wouldn't elaborate, saying only that Ortiz and the victim have been "extremely cooperative".

Meanwhile, Jenna James go public through the help of TMZ about what happened last Monday; Wearing a wrap on her right elbow, Jenna told reporters Monday that Tito Ortiz had "lashed out" at her, resulting in her father calling 911 and Tito being arrested in Huntingon Beach, Calif., on domestic violence charges.

But after he was released on bail, a teary-eyed UFC warrior Tito Ortiz and his lawyer Chip Matthews held a press conference late Monday in Los Angeles and put the blame on Jenna Jameson.

"Jenna has been fighting a battle with OxyContin addiction for the past year. For Tito and her family this has been an uphill battle. Unfortunately this morning she had a relapse,Tito was trying to help her, she has threatened suicide before. Tito has done everything in his power to protect her privacy and the privacy of their children." Tito Ortiz's lawyer Chip Matthews said.

Jenna Jameson told TMZ, however, that Tito was violent - he "threw me into a bathtub" -- and that he's falsely accusing her of OxyContin addiction because he's "very, very desperate".

On the other hand, As news spread earlier today that UFC light heavyweight Tito Ortiz had been arrested for felony domestic assault against girlfriend Jenna Jameson, we knew it was only a matter of time before we'd hear from White.

Talking to TMZ.com, UFC President Dana White underscored the seriousness of the charges, saying, "Other than going on a killing spree, being accused of domestic violence is the worst thing you can have going for you." Moreover, Dana White remarked that the UFC could release the fighter from the organization for the arrest, saying, "We're gonna be fair, but we could cut him."

 

UFC 101 Anderson Silva vs Forrest Griffin

Well I finally got the chance to see UFC 101 yesterday and boy was it worth the wait. If you haven't seen it yet look away now cause I know how it feels when fights are ruined for me. I usually opt for a media block out, and yeah don't use twitter the next day, trust me!

I can say with absolute confidence that the performance of Anderson Silva against Forrest has to be the greatest performance I have ever seen inside the Octagon. Joe Rogan says it a lot, but Silva is definitely a character out of a movie. Silva was up against the former UFC Light Heavyweight champion and one of the most beloved fighters in the UFC ever since his slug fest with Stefan Bonner in the Ultimate Fighter finally season one. Forrest also has excellent cardio, great power and most of all heart! People might have been excused if they thought he had a chance against the reigning Middleweight champion, I sure did, especially taking into account Silva's last two fights versus Cote and Laites. Cote got injured mid way through and Laites ran from Silva for 5 rounds. Lets also not Forget that Silva was moving up a weight class to fight Griffin. What we were treated too was magical.

Silva felt up Griffin for the usual minute and then turned on the action. He managed to knock down Griffin 3 times in the first round the last of which finished the fight as Forrest waved that he has had enough! The first knock down was via a right hook to the jaw which dropped Forrest instantly but he was able to recover pretty quickly. The second one was truly brilliant. Silva stayed in the "pocket" in front of Forrest ducking under 3 punches with incredible head movement only to land a straight right and Forrest was down again. It was something you could only see in a Hollywood movie, something Jet-Li could pull off. Silva immediately pounced on him and at that point I though Forrest was done, but either he recovered or Anderson wasn't ready to finish him off yet. With Forrest out of options he attempted a flurry of punches while moving aggressively forward, Silva moved back smoothly and landed a jab while doing so that downed Griffin for the final time. I couldn't believe my eyes.

I was watching with my brother, who follows UFC diligently like myself, my wife who is a huge Ultimate Fighter fan, and a friend who sees a game with me once every blue moon. Prior to the game my brother and I were trying to explain why Anderson Silva is a legend but no amount of words could explain what my friend saw with his own eyes a few minutes later. If you ever see an MMA match this one has to be it!
